Happy New Year!
Thursday, December 31st, 2009Here’s the first Pooch New Years Sunday strip (from back in 2000….9 years old! Gak!).
2009 has been a great year of growth for Pooch in some aspects, even if the newspaper market has continuted to shrink. The Zazzle store has opened with many fine Pooch products, the first two Pooch collections were reprinted along with the third at Lulu, a few prints and decals at our own Pooch store, and the Poncho plush should be ready for action within the next week. And although I haven’t reported on it for a while, the writing on the Pooch Cafe movie continues. More on that soon enough.
I hope everyone had a great 2009, and will double their pleasure in 2010. Cheers to all!

Merry Christmas
Friday, December 25th, 2009The very first Pooch Christmas Sunday, from back in 2000. Happy holidays to everyone!
A Christmas Iphone Miracle
Wednesday, December 23rd, 2009
For those with Iphones or children, you know how much they mean to you. And you know how sometimes when you get out of a cab you forget to check for them and then the cab drives away and you feel a stabbing sense of loss and bad parenting. When this happened to me on Saturday night I figured that, along with Michael and Brittany, there would be a third shining star to mourn this year.
When later I dialed my number and a young man (hitherto and forever referred to as “my hero”) answered and said he’d found my precious in the gutter and wished to return it to me, I felt the warmth of Christmas mingling with the tequila I’d been drinking to subdue my pain.
Tonight, as I curl up with my Iphone and close my eyes, my visions shall not be of Jesus, nor Santa, nor Obama, but He, my hero.
Peace on Earth, good will toward men.
Poncho Is Coming!
Monday, December 21st, 2009Due to an alignment of the planets and all their respective moons in a way the hasn’t been seen since the fall of Atlantis and the year both 90210 and Party Of Five were cancelled, the Poncho plush dolls shall (quite clearly) not available before Christmas. They spent the last 6 weeks on various boats and docks and I now know more than I ever wanted to know about import procedures, and they have finally arrived in the hands of the company who shall be facilitating the sales, but said company is of course neck deep in Christmas orders, so the Ponchos will have to wait till the seasonal rush has abated. But, barring planet-smashing comet or some equally Hollywood-esque disaster, 2010 should be The Year of the Dog (no mater what the Chinese calendars say).
The Pooch Clause
Sunday, December 20th, 2009Poster hobbiest Doug Newman is back to his tricks, this time with a poster for a movie I haven’t even heard of yet (although I’m sure will be everywhere by the time this post goes up), so I included the poster he created it from. Somehow I don’t see Poncho as the hero type, but then, maybe he’s “acting”.
Cat Cuisine
Friday, December 18th, 2009From the trendiest restaurants in London and New York, chefs everywhere are trying to match Poncho’s prowess in the kitchen…..just take 1 fluffy kitty, add some lemon, s&p, braise, garnish liberally and serve!
South Bark
Tuesday, December 15th, 2009Pooch blog-master Archie sent me this, with the following note:
“I don’t know if you can use this but we’re doing some major garage cleaning right now and I found this mouse pad. Instead of South Park it’s South “Bark” and I think the characters, especially Kenny looks like Poncho!!!”
The do look Poncho-esque, and since Poncho has also undergone the unkindest of cuts, he and Kenny share more than facial fur patterns.
