Pooch Hits 3000!
By Paul | March 20, 2008

Today, Mar 20, Pooch Café celebrates its 3000th strip. Pooch Café debuted with Copley News Syndicate over 8 years ago (moving over to Universal Press Syndicate in May of 2003). I’ve always called it the first comic strip of the new millennium, but because it had to debut on a Monday its launch date was actually Jan 3rd, 2000. Factoring in 3 leap years the strip hits the 3000 mark today. That poor dog, all these years living with the cats and no end in sight.

What a great accomplishment. Congratulations Paul. What is awesome is that the strip is as totally fresh today as it was in the beginning. Do you have a copy of the actual very first strip you could put on the blog? I’d love to see it. Or was in included in any of the books?

Paul, what a wonderful milestone. You seem to greatly enjoy drawing Pooch Cafe after 8+ years. I think it is great that you communicate with your fans the way you do. Looking forward to laughing through 3000 more.

Superb achievement, Paul. But - er - how old does that make Poncho?

That is awesome! Our whole family loves the strip. My husband accuses me of being a Poochaholic, but that’s a good thing, right???
Much congratulations Paul! Thank you for all the wonderful work you’ve done and bringing Poncho and the gang into our hearts. With all the strips throughout the years, yours is unique and entertaining on a daily basis.
I truly can’t go a day with them…..I guess I am a Ponchoholic…

3000? Eight years? Congratulations! My wife and I just discovered this strip when our newspaper started running this strip a year or so ago.
I wish there would be more books published so that we can catch up on all the old strips. We have the first two and will get the third when it’s available on Amazon.
This is the greatest daily strip out there!

Poochoholism is definitely a good thing, Archie. Thanks for the congrats, all. With fans like you guys we’ll have Poncho action figures for sure. Just so you know, sr98, the third Pooch book won’t be coming out on Amazon, Lulu is a publish-to-order internet publlisher so it’ll only be available on there. Nina, the first strip publlished was the first strip in book #1, I’ll pop it up for others to see.

Hey Paul, congratulations on hitting 3000 strips! It’s amazing when you see the comic quantified in those terms. I’m crawling towards 300 comics, so now you’ve given me a motivation to get in gear. Though you’ve got a pretty big head start.
Congrats again Paul on all your success. Keep up the great work!
