Poncho Gets Prickly

By Paul | February 6, 2014

The cantankerous one makes an appearance is Scott Stanis’ Prickly City, pitching one of his go-to mission statements.

Hope he washed his mouth out after saying “meow”.  Thanks for the inclusion, Scott!  More Prickly City right this way.

Scott Stanis will be making an appearance at the Kenosha (Wisconsin) Cartoon Festival at the end of September. This is where I got to meet the fantastic, wonderful, and all around great person Paul Gilligan a few years ago. I hope some of you can make it this year.

I have fond memories of both you and Kenosha, Bob! It was great to meet some of my biggest fans, and certainly my biggest mailman fan :)

HEY! Geez, your biggest stalking fan wasn’t even MENTIONED!

And Bob, I thought you joined my stalking club that day.

    How soon they forget…sigh…

Oh the above strip is great! Love seeing Poncho’s voice through the pen of another. :-D

Lulu, I thought I joined your ‘stocking’ club. I have been collecting them ever since. It seems what we have here is a failure to communicate.

Oh my gosh, Bob…now I understand why I thought you abandoned me. You’re collecting hosiery and I’m skulking around looking for thumb sightings. ;-)

    Hey Paul,
The NY Daily News is at it again.
Doonesbury is on an extended vacation and they are carrying your current strip. I wish they would just carry you all the time!
I don’t post like I used to, but I get your strip every day in my email, print and save them all. Also I check in on your site and you make our day with the Poncho strips every day. Thanks for bringing Poncho into our life.

    Paul,
An addition to the above info. In todays NY Daily News TV section they say that Garry Trudeau will not be doing any more daily strips while he’s producing the successful TV series “Alpha House”..wondering what this means for Pooch Café? Will they make it the permanent replacement? If so, does that mean extra bucks for you? Just wanted to give you a heads up.

Thanks for monitoring the Daily News for me, Mary Ann! Good news! As far as I know, Pooch is going to be replacing Doonesbury until further notice. I love being in New York, so I’m really happy about this. If I could ask a favor of you and any other Pooch affectionados that live in New York, please send a letter or email to the Daily News and let them know how happy you are to see Pooch back in its pages. Readers often like to send letters of displeasure at seeing an old strip replaced, so it’ll be nice to have some positive votes for keeping it in the paper so that new readers can give it a chance. Massive appreciation, and thanks MA for letting me know!

Will do Paul…The Daily News is where we first saw you…so glad to see it back…We should all send letters….doesn’t matter if you live in NY or not…we live in Torrington, CT. and my husband picks up the NY Daily News at the store every morning…Glad I could be of service!

It’s so nice when your stalkee pretends you’re not a nut. ;-)

I just want to say how awesome it is that Pooch Cafe’ has just gotten better and better. Never stale, never jumping the shark…Still the best by miles.
